When does my classic car become tax exempt?

I have an MGB Roadster - registration JSA 189G - can you tell me when my car becomes tax exempt?

The rolling system updates occur each April. For example, April 2018 saw all vehicles built prior to 1 January, 1978, become eligible for Historic Vehicle car tax. This means all 1978-produced could be reclassified. April 2020 is when all pre-1980 vehicles (including your 1979 MGB) will become exempt.
